Description

The Data Marketplace component offers a web-based environment for providing functions and interfaces in order to support the search, retrieval and ingestion of diverse assets (e.g. datasets, policies, analytical tools, etc.).

Main Features

Hosting and offering of ready-to-use assets, Multi-sided environment offering functionalities both for assets’ providers (e.g. owners of specific assets such as data owners that have made a specific dataset available) and for assets’ consumers (e.g.  data scientists that would like to obtain an offered dataset).

Benefits to Users

The Data Marketplace component consists of a web-based environment for providing functions and interfaces in order to support the search, retrieval and ingestion of diverse assets (e.g. datasets, policies, analytical tools) to the providers and consumers of the assets. Hence, it enables them to model, analyze, evaluate and optimise either the existing assets or the ones that they own. To this end, the Data Marketplace supports the storage and retrieval of valuable data artefacts and enables data and knowledge to be exploited as assets. Moreover, the Data Marketplace is aligned with the principle of persistent storage by extending the metadata and semantics that are being attached to the datasets and policies with valuable fields for successful data integration and accuracy in the format of the document. Thus, it enables the development of enhanced operations for Creating, Retrieving, Updating and Deleting (CRUD) metadata inside it, while reassuring the correct data format of the stored data. Furthermore, since the types of data vary, one of the requirements, satisfied by the Data Marketplace, is the full-text search capabilities in structure-agnostic assets. The latter is accomplished by providing seamless retrieval abilities in deep-hierarchical machine-readable document structures and thus interoperability of datasets and data are being enhanced. Finally, it allows stakeholders to make publicly available their own data and get revenue from it, and businesses and citizens to search and extract the information they need.
